As recently announced on our Facebook page, myself and the team at Wombat are delighted to confirm that we have been whittled down as finalists at the Digital Entrepreneur Awards 2017.

Recognised in the category of Web Development Project of the Year, for our work with our client, Lake District Lodge Holidays– the award acknowledges our ability not only to create stylish websites, but our innovative and pioneering methods to keep our clients ahead of their competition and at the forefront of technological progress.

But why is this so important? You haven’t even won yet?!

True and good question, as the answer goes above and beyond what may just be conceived as a little ego boost- although we would be lying if we said that this wasn’t somewhat enjoyable. In fact, this award proves that in our case, success is most certainly not determined by size or location- but quality!

Beating off hundreds of businesses to make it to the final, The Digital Entrepreneur Awards, which are now in their 13th year, cover award categories encompassing every component of today’s online business ecosystem. What’s even more impressive, however, is that in previous years, accolades have been awarded to national giants, such as Sainsbury’s and Mothercare.

As many of you will know, Wombat Creative, or Wombat Web Design, as we were known back in the day, was introduced to the world in very humble circumstances. The brainchild of co-founders Fraser & Jason, Wombat Creative sought its first projects whilst Jason & Fraser were still studying computing at The University of Cumbria.

However, despite their relatively recent introduction to the world of web design & development, their intellectual curiosity and passion for digital innovations soon set them apart from their West Cumbrian counterparts. Whether that be by Fraser’s dedication to attending industry-leading conferences in the USA or Jason’s magpie eye for cutting edges designs and trending features- their ability to incorporate this knowledge into actionable results for clients soon paid off.

Now, with a healthy team of 7 and a growing digital marketing department to add to their web design and development expertise, Wombat Creative has developed into a full-service digital agency.

So, returning to the question of why being acknowledged as finalists for an award is so important? The answer is quite simple- because it credits our hard work and recognises us as on par with national industry leaders. We might be a small agency, we might not be based in a large city, but when we have the skills and pioneering knowledge to push your site to the forefront of success, does that really matter?

And.. on that note, on behalf of our team of very chuffed Wombats, I’d just like to say a huge THANK YOU, to our clients for your support over the years and we hope you enjoy watching Wombat Creative grow in the years to come!

We will find out if we have been crowned winners of the award at a glamorous black-tie event on the 22nd November 2017, at The Principal Hotel in Manchester – keep your fingers crossed for us!
